Eco-Inspired Collagraph Print- 8th Grade Printmaking

For this lesson, students worked alongside Massachusetts Audubon Society to interact hands-on with critters, plants, and various items from the outside world. Highlighting the wonder of local wildlife, students created rubbings and sketches of the environment that was brought to them from Massachusetts and their backyards.

Switching to a macro-view of the environment, students then investigated environmental issues occurring globally.  Students then created a collagraph print that responded to the environmental issue they had researched in an artistic way. Images can serve as powerful tools to send a message- The student's collagraph prints are meant to bring awareness of the issue they have chosen to their classmates and school community.
